Dog Walking Frequently Asked Questions
Why pack walks? We firmly believe that pack walks are one of the best gifts you can offer your dog. Not only are you giving your dog physical exercise, but also the priceless gift of companionship and social skills.
How long are your walks? Our walks are at least one hour. Your dog will likely be out of your house for around 2 hours due to transportation and/or picking up other pack members.
What if I miss a walk, do I get a refund? No. We build in a month’s worth of “vacation time” into each membership fee. This means, in any given month, you are paying for slightly less walks than you actually receive. That makes things nice and simple if your pup needs a sick day or if you go on vacation.
Are you open for holidays? We are closed on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day. If a major holiday falls on a Thursday we may be closed Friday, but there' will be advanced warning for all of these closures.
Are there any other closures we should expect? We will follow the federal government for other closures, such as weather. We will give as much advanced notice as possible in those situations.
How old does my puppy have to be to start as a “Pack Member in Training”? Puppies can start as young as 8 weeks. In fact, puppies who start right off the bat are better prepped for a lifetime of good manners, independence, confidence, and excellent socialization skills.
How do you know that the dogs will be okay together? We are highly selective about which dogs we will accept into our program. After taking a thorough history, dogs are given a trial period with a walker. Only after the dog and walker have established a one-on-one relationship will your dog be introduced to a pack. Initial introductions are on leash. Behavior is then monitored extremely closely and we restructure packs as needed so that everyone is having the safest, best experience possible.
Will I have the same walker each walk? Yes! If they call out sick, we will provide you the option to have a sub walker.
Can you feed my dog after his walk? Yes! Actually many of our clients prepare a KONG or other activity toy that we leave with the dog each day. This is a great way to provide your dog with mental stimulation and enrichment, as well as to prevent separation anxiety and problem behaviors that stem from boredom.
Do you allow drop ins? Unfortunately, no. We pride ourselves on providing the best pack experience possible. One of the key elements in maintaining the safest, happiest packs possible is by providing our dogs with a predictable and consistent social group. Allowing new dogs to drop in would significantly affect the pack dynamic, making the walk less safe and less enjoyable for everyone.
